# ⚡ Automate Travel Itineraries in Slack with Zapier and Dappier

Dappier’s **Real-Time Data model** enables automatic **travel itinerary generation** based on user input. With **Zapier and Slack**, you can automate this process, extracting travel details from messages and generating personalized itineraries.

## **Overview**

This guide walks you through creating a **Zap** that:

* **Detects travel requests** in a Slack channel.
* **Splits the message text** to extract the location and travel dates.
* **Uses Dappier’s AI to generate a detailed itinerary**.
* **Posts the itinerary back into Slack**.

## **Prerequisites**

Before starting, ensure you have:

* A **[Zapier account](https://zapier.com)**
* A **Slack workspace** with a public channel for travel requests.
* A **Dappier API Key** (Generate it from [Dappier Platform](https://platform.dappier.com) under **Settings > Profile > API Keys**).

## **Step 1: Create a New Zap in Zapier**

1. **Log in to Zapier** and click **Create a Zap**.
2. **Select a Trigger**:
   * Search for **Slack** and choose **"New Message Posted to Channel"**.
   * Choose the Slack workspace and the channel where users will request itineraries.
   * Click **Continue**, then **Test Trigger**.

## **Step 2: Extract Travel Details Using Formatter**

1. Click the **"+"** icon to add an action.
2. Search for **Formatter by Zapier** and select it.
3. Choose **"Text"** as the action event.
4. Select **"Split Text"** as the transformation.
5. Configure the fields:
   * **Input:** Select the Slack message (e.g., `"trip Charlotte August 10-15"`).
   * **Separator:** Enter a **single space (`" "`).**
   * **Segment Index:** Choose **"All as Separate Fields"** to extract parts dynamically.
6. Click **Continue**, then **Test Step**.

✅ **Expected Output Breakdown:**

* `trip` (ignored)
* `Charlotte` → City
* `August` → Month
* `10-15` → Travel Dates

## **Step 3: Generate Travel Itinerary Using Dappier**

1. Click the **"+"** icon to add an action.
2. Search for **Dappier** and select it.
3. Choose **"Get Real Time Data"** as the action.
4. Configure the fields:
   * **Search Query:**
     ```plaintext theme={null}
     Create a detailed travel itinerary for {{Output Item 2}} from {{Output Item 3}} {{Output Item 4}}.
     Include flights, hotels, meetings, and attractions.
     ```
   * Click **Continue**, then **Test the Step**.

## **Step 4: Post the Itinerary Back to Slack**

1. Click the **"+"** icon to add a final action.
2. Search for **Slack** and select it.
3. Choose **"Send Channel Message"**.
4. Configure the fields:
   * **Channel:** Select the Slack channel where the request was posted.
   * **Message Text:**
     ```plaintext theme={null}
     Have fun! 🎉
     Here’s a detailed travel itinerary for your trip to {{Output Item 2}} from {{Output Item 3}} {{Output Item 4}}. ✈️🏨🌟
     {{Dappier Response}}
     ```
   * Enable **"Send as a bot"** and set the bot name (e.g., "TravelBot").
   * Click **Continue**, then **Test Step**.

## **Final Step: Publish Your Zap**

1. Click **Publish Zap** to activate the automated travel assistant.
2. Your Zap will now **listen for travel requests** in Slack, generate itineraries, and post them back!
